This is what happens when you live in a tunnel, people, you just don't see proper, and she's taking advantage of the fact that he's staring at Peter to make some motions towards him, see if she can activate his peripheral vision.
And also, that definitely is going to make him stop goggling at Peter with it, so she guesses it's a win-win. So, when he doesn't really see it, she's going to be very normal and grab his face by the cheeks and turn his face to take a good look at it.)
