⏵ character information
name: Peter Parker
canon: Spider-Man: No Way Home (MCU)
age: 18
canon point: Post-movie.
history: Here!
abilities:
Peter is capable of being very sticky.
That is, he can crawl on just about any surface, and he has no trouble remaining upside down for hours without any negative repercussions. He's a very flexible guy as well, and has an extremely durable body that can withstand a lot of force — i.e. a cement column hitting him, or train smashing into him. While he is definitely hurt depending on the level of force, what usually kills a normal human is less likely to do the same to him. He also heals unnaturally fast; while by no means instant, something like a bullet wound can take only a day or two to completely heal, and with no lingering issues left in his body. He does have superhuman strength, which leaves him able to do things like stop cars in their place while they're, say, speeding down a street.
In terms of more typical human capabilities, Peter has a high intellect when it comes to technology and chemistry. He has created his own webs for his web-slinging, but also has some experience in dealing with robotics and working on complex cures. Less human-y, Peter also has 'spidey sense', which allows him to sense danger ahead of time. While it's not always reliable, it can help him recognize when someone is about to do harm to him, or if there is a projectile heading his way. It's not 100% mastered at his age, but he has been honing it since Far From Home.
His senses are often dialed up compared to a normal human, but it's also more than possible that his hypersensitivity can be used against him as a weakness.
I think that about covers it! More detailed information is available in the wiki if there's any deep dives needed on powers.
personality:
Peter is a kind person with a strong moral code, and his charitable and affectionate nature has not been lost in the total chaos of his timeline. While he can lose his temper or fall oblivious to things right in front of his nose, he wants to do right by the people around him. If he hadn't gotten his powers in this universe, you get the impression he would be a polite and considerate kid regardless. Unfortunately, sometimes that kindness warps into a grisly savior complex (that spans many dimensions), of which can be used like a band-aid over his own personal issues. A win-win, he would call it. Psychologically speaking, probably not so much.
He feels responsible for things that happen around him to an extremely unhealthy level, and believes that he has to do the work he does. Ff he doesn't, anything bad that happens in his vicinity is caused by his own concept of the bystander effect. He will beat himself up and feel the weight of his perceived failures so strongly that he feels he has to try harder or make amends for it. It's a vicious cycle, in that as much good as he can give his community, he can also mentally rot in the failures that may follow.
That kind of thinking can push him toward a darker edge, one where he nearly kills for the sake of revenge, of quelling his own turmoil over not being capable enough to protect the people in his life. He's not infallible — he's a human, one who can lose his temper, who can feel a thirst for violence against someone who has destroyed something or someone so incredibly good. While it takes a great injustice or cruelty to get him there, he can be pushed to that point. And perhaps that is one of the hardest fights he'll have, duking it out with himself.
... Dark!
Peter a certified smart guy (tm) with a thirst for knowledge, so much so that if he didn't have Spider-Man he would undoubtedly be neck-deep in a job that works in an engineering or chemical field. He wants to understand things, know how they work, what makes them tick. It's one of the subjects that gets him wound up the most — show him a 27-kilometre ring of superconducting magnets in a hadron collider and he'd probably faint from talking too much to breathe.
He can be an awkward person as just plain ol' Peter: quirky and socially sputtering through his life, but beneath that initial sheepish demeanor can be a smart-mouthed kid who wields punchlines and exasperated commentary like twin blades. What awkwardness he has that has trickled over from just being a big socially stunted nerd in his younger years, he makes up for in earnestness and can-do attitude with most situations. If it comes off as needy at times, it probably is — in current time, Peter Parker hardly exists, and all he has to fall back on is Spider-Man. He is untethered to the stress of endangering his friends or identity, but he is also very lost; he has gone into his adult years utterly alone for the first time in his life, thrust into being on his own in a way that is understandably a little traumatizing; most people don't fly the coop by losing their mentor, their parent, and (less literally) their girlfriend and colleagues.
Despite all of the bad stuff, Peter still stays determined to focus on what he can do for the future. What's that saying? Stiff upper lip? Keep moving forward — keep it going — and try to make something worthwhile with what you've got. He clumsily shuffles through life, he says the wrong things sometimes, he overextends and overestimates and underestimates, he's too late or a dollar short, but he will try to make it work and focus on the good instead of the bad. The bright spots instead of the dark places. Just, y'know. Do his best. That's really what it all comes down to, right? Just doing the best with what you've got.
